MAKESHIFT THEATER LAUNCHES 25-26 SEASON WITH SOLD-OUT PERFORMANCES AT NEWLY RENOVATED COACH HOUSE
Audiences snapped up tickets to “The Night I Died at the Palace” brought to life by Silver Lining Players on the newly renovated Coach House stage. The September performances featured four sold-out shows and were followed by the staged readings of “Demise”, “Adventures with Sherlock”, “An Afternoon with Jackie and Betty", and “Ride or Die”, which each brought new audiences to one of Akron’s historic theatre landmarks.
Next up is “The Colored Museum”, opening December 12. You won't want to miss this powerful full production. George C. Wolfe's groundbreaking play explores African-American identity and culture through 10 dynamic "exhibits"—sharp, funny, and unflinching. Directed by Elijah Chase, this is essential theater. Get your tickets.
The carriage house is located on the southwest portion of the AWCC Estate, a five-acre property in Akron’s vibrant West Hill neighborhood. Makeshift Theater will revitalize the historic structure while preserving its architectural integrity and cultural significance.
The Akron Woman’s City Club has been a cornerstone of Akron’s cultural landscape, and this partnership continues its legacy of supporting the arts in Summit County. “We’re honored to work with the Akron Woman’s City Club on this exciting venture,” Bond added. The Coach House has been a beloved venue for theater productions in the past, and we look forward to honoring that tradition while bringing our creative vision to the space.
